Awards

November 2008:
The Project Planning Team responsible for the hugely successful Town Hall Centenary events were praised at the prestigious Stockport Council Extra Awards 2008 and winners of the category 'Working in Partnership' (November 2008).

August 2008:
EED Team Recognition Award - The Venue Management team is praised for the successful completion of the Centenary programme, through selling tickets and dealing with high volumes of enquiries, through staffing and facilitating 15 days of events. A great team effort. Well done to all!

July 2008:
Town Hall Receptionist, Phil Elgee was awarded a Silver Award for the high level of service and response undertaken in his post. 

August 2007:
Venue Management and Venue Catering have succeeded and improved on last year's Hospitality Assured Award. The award given by the Institute of Hospitality is a mark of quality in the industry. The high levels of service provided at the Town Hall have been recognised with an overall increase of 2% in the mark awarded for 2007.

June 2007
EED Team Recognition Award - The Venue Management team received praise for efficiently dealing with a high workload over the last months and they have also seen a significant period of change, staff shortage, new members of staff and lots of events!!

September 2006:
Stockport Town Hall has been awarded an industry award called Hospitality Assured. The award is part of a Quality Assured process and recognises the Town Hall's Venue Management and Venue Catering teams. The Town Hall Venue Management Team achieved a 66.5% score against the requirements in the Standard for Service and Business Excellence which is well above the minimum requirement. (Hospitality Assured is now known as the Institute of Hospitality).

December 2005:
Smoke Free Stockport Award . The award recognises the work carried out to ensure that the Town Hall is a smoke free environment. The award, hosted by SMBC's Environmental Health Department, was presented by the Mayor of Stockport.

APSE Local Authority Venues Bench Marking Group. The Town Hall was awarded a finalist's certificate at a ceremony held in Blackpool . 5 local authorities were nominated as finalists within the UK in the Civic, Cultural and Communities Venues section. The award recognises benchmarking practises.

The Welcome to Excellence series of training programmes, which includes the Welcome Host, is the most successful customer service training initiative in the UK and many Venue Management staff have attended these courses.

May 2005:
Green Apple Award for the Built Environment . The award recognises those responsible for preserving the country's architectural heritage and is dedicated to promoting environmental best practise around the world. The Town Hall was presented with a bronze award for the refurbishment of the ballroom which included improvements to the feature lighting on the ceiling. The 'Green Apple' award is currently on display in the Town Hall reception.
